Why Convert PDF to eBook?
PDFs are great for sharing but uncomfortable for reading on e-readers. A PDF has a fixed layout designed for a specific page size — when you open it on a Kindle or Kobo, the text is often tiny and you have to zoom and scroll constantly. Converting to EPUB creates a reflowable document that adapts perfectly to any screen size, making long-form reading much more comfortable.
How to Convert PDF to EPUB with PDFMagik
Open the PDF to eBook tool
Go to PDFMagik PDF to eBook. No login needed.
Upload your PDF
Drag and drop your PDF file. Text-based PDFs convert best.
Choose output format
Select EPUB (universal) or MOBI (Kindle). EPUB is recommended for most e-readers.
Download and transfer
Download the eBook file and transfer it to your e-reader via USB or email.
💡 Best Results: Text-based PDFs (reports, articles, books) convert excellently. Image-heavy or complex layout PDFs (magazines, brochures) may not reflow well — PDF format is better for those.
Which eBook Format Should You Choose?
- EPUB: The universal standard. Works on Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play Books, and most e-readers. Not natively supported on older Kindles.
- MOBI: Amazon's older format. Works on all Kindle devices and the Kindle app. Being phased out in favor of AZW3.
- AZW3: The modern Kindle format. Better formatting support than MOBI.
For most users, EPUB is the right choice. For Kindle users specifically, use MOBI or send the EPUB to your Kindle email address — Amazon converts it automatically.
How to Transfer an eBook to Your Device
- Kindle: Email the file to your @kindle.com address, or use the Send to Kindle app.
- Kobo: Connect via USB and drag the EPUB into the Books folder.
- Apple Books: Open the EPUB file on your Mac or iPhone — it opens in Books automatically.
- Android: Copy the file to your device and open with Moon+ Reader, ReadEra, or any EPUB app.
Limitations of PDF to eBook Conversion
Not all PDFs convert equally well. The best source PDFs for eBook conversion are those created from word processors or text editors — they have clean, extractable text. Scanned PDFs need OCR processing first. Complex multi-column layouts, sidebars, and tables may not reflow elegantly in EPUB format.
